![]() ![]() ![]() If it's been ready since mid-2021 and we're just getting this now with the shadow drop and no sign of Metroid Prime 4, I'm definitely way more willing to buy into Metroid Prime 2 and 3 getting something pretty substantial prior to Metroid Prime 4's full reveal. Wait, I thought that Metroid Prime Remastered had just wrapped in summer 2022. Probably has to do with Prime 4 coming sooner than we expected, but then I don't understand why they didn't just have Prime 1 last novermber or december. I hope this sells okay, but it still feels like a lot of wasted potential.īetween Nintendo sitting on it for more than a year and rumors of it coming out for sure last holiday, I think this shadow drop wasn't Nintendo's initial plan but they had to do it to accomodate it in a broader schedule. Not only the game was shadow dropped, it hadn't even been announced before, so unless you're part of the extremely niche group that follows rumors on online boards, you wouldn't even know that the game exists. But Metroid is largely unkown here so you can't dismiss marketing and think it will sell on the hype of a shadow drop, people need to be aware of the game in the first place for that to happen. The brazilian market is way more oriented to 3D games than 2D games (Sony and MS dominate the market and Nintendo hasn't really been much of a presence since after the Wii), so imo Prime would have sold better than Dread here if it had been marketed. This to me shows the difference marketing makes. Metroid Dread was on the top 3 for a couple weeks if I remember right. I checked yesterday (one day after release) and MP Remastered was 20th on the brazilian eshop best sellers. So hopefully that clarifies the situation here. I have not seen the game running so I can't comment on the finished quality of the art remake, but I have heard it's impressive for what it's worth. ![]() ![]() I don't know what the price point would ultimately be, but given the amount of work put into it I would fully expect it to be full price.Īgain, there's not any new added content to my knowledge but all the art assets have been completely rebuilt from the ground up a la Shadow of the Colossus/Demon's Souls remake. Yes, that has happened from time to time, but this is not one of those cases. That's why it irritates me that all this irresponsible reporting from years past is casting a negative shadow over it with people being led to believe Nintendo is just trying to take advantage of the fan base. I think this is the kind of thing we want to see from them and should reward. This is not one of Nintendo's usual quick minimalist re-release cash grabs. They've seriously been working on it for years. Retro has put a lot of work in to this project. Prime 1R "establish the visual bar and style" for other developers to match for 2 & 3 sounds exciting, if we're lucky enough for that to pan out. it does give me hope that those releases could still be more than typical ports, even if not full Retro-level quality. Obviously they mentioned they didn't know if that was still the plan going forward, and we've heard that 2 & 3 are to be less ambitious than Prime 1R, but. Which makes this section of particular interest to me now: As we know today that's all right on the money, with even the timeframe of dev completion being corroborated by other insiders. They also specified that it was to be a full art remake leaving the underlying mechanics intact. In Sept 2021, that person claimed that work on Prime 1R had only recently (at the time) completed and that work on 2 & 3 had not yet begun, contrary to reporting at the time that had claimed the entire trilogy was done and had already been done for a long time. I found the post I was vaguely remembering. ![]()
